Iliana Nierengarten, a freshman at Castro Valley High in California, won the Division 1 girls varsity yellow race by covering the 2.93-mile layout in 19:38 at the 75th Mt. SAC Cross Country Invitational Presented by Nike in Walnut, Calif. Nierengarten helped Castro Valley triumph as a team by a 51-69 margin against Warren High of California.
